Red-headed Woodpecker Recovery (RhWR) conducts several types of outreach. We provide informational programs about RhWR, about Red-headed Woodpeckers (RHWOs) in general, about what we have learned, and how people can help RHWOs. We table at events to reach out about the precarious situation of RHWOs to different communities and groups of people.

A primary RhWR outreach is our Habitat Partners work. This involves partnering with many people, including landowners, land managers, homeowners, and others, who see RHWOs on their property and would like to report the sighting, or would like to see RHWOs on their property. We work with people about how to manage land to attract RHWOs to nest and use their land.

There are different levels of involvement as a Habitat Partner. Examples include reporting sightings, or repeated sightings, observing and reporting if the RHWOs sighted are nesting, reporting nesting behaviors, or allowing one of our volunteers to make observations, or getting involved in land management activities.
