Red-headed Woodpecker Recovery Funds are used for:
Assisting Research Activities > 92% of funds
- Equipment and technicians to study nesting and breeding behavior of RHWOs
- Habitat analysis and study of RHWOs
- Development of Best Management Practices for RHWOs
- Distribution/location of breeding RHWOs in Minnesota
- Equipment and technicians to track migration/movements of RHWOs all seasons
Educational materials, insurance, mailings, website maintenance – <8% of funds

Before you decide on how to donate, know that all methods involve additional costs to you or the recipient. These involve credit card fees, transfer fees and postage to mention a few. An analysis shows the best method for both is a simple check in the US Mail. Please consider it when making your donation.
